Preppy, 1970s, colour blocking and animal print are among the key trends covered by Peacocks for autumn 11. Trousers are bootcut or flared and chinos are paired with loose-fitting blouses and silk-style shirts.
Neon brights come in blocks of colour or striped. Maxi dresses and long flared jumpsuits sit alongside vintage-inspired tea dresses and prom dresses from the higher-priced By Design range, and from the collaboration with designer Pearl Lowe.
- Colour-blocked prom dress
- Animal-print flared jumpsuit
- 1970s-style printed kaftan

Right for the market?
The By Design range has a broad appeal as the summer event season kicks off, with styles for every kind of event, body shape, trend or colour preference. While the most fashion-forward ranges, such as By Design, the Pearl Lowe range and the Boutique collection of sub-brands will only feature in 11 city centre stores and online, the main collection does not disappoint.
The more difficult to wear styles, such as narrow-legged chinos and high-waisted flared trousers, are either finely tapered or kept lower on the waist, ensuring these takes on catwalk style are kept accessible.
