Footwear brand Rockport is chasing a further 30 independent stockists for spring 13 as it looks to drive forward its “style made comfortable” message.
The Adidas-owned brand, which has about 250 UK accounts, told Drapers it was looking to develop its business in the UK by pushing its concept of “walkability” to the end consumer.
Matt O’Connor, general manager of Rockport in the UK, said: “Being owned by Adidas means all of our footwear has Adiprene by Adidas technology in it, but first and foremost we want people to be struck by the fashionability of our footwear, and then they will appreciate the comfort element once they try them on.”
O’Connor added that the women’s collection had grown slightly for spring 13 as the brand had added more depth in terms of the different style options available.
“We hope some of the styles in the women’s collection will mean we can open up accounts with some more independent boutiques,” he added.
Quality footwear-only indies are also in Rockport’s sights as potential stockists.
