Comprised of T-shirts, boyfriend-fit henley shirts and vests in soft cotton, as well as cashmere and silk knitwear, basics brand Bergano Greys’ debut womenswear collection launched last month, with the range available to buyers to stock now.
Drapers asked the label’s founder and co-designer Oliver Pollock to tell us more about it.
Why did you decide to launch a womenswear collection now?
We felt that nobody was creating truly high-quality, luxe basics for women at an accessible price point. We had planned to launch later in the year but we became overwhelmed with enquiries either from existing customers looking to buy the ‘perfect’ T-shirt for their partner, or from stores wanting to offer the range to women, so we decided to bring the launch forward.
How would you describe the Bergano Greys womenswear collection?
Sophisticated simplicity. This is the motto that we at Bergano Greys live by and we want that to come across in every piece in the collection.
What sets Bergano Greys clothing apart?
We work with the mills to develop our own fabrics with a particular style in mind and meticulously take every detail into account, from the thickness of a vest strap to the depth of a V-neck on a T-shirt. From Italy and Europe for cotton to Mongolia for cashmere, we travel the world sourcing raw materials and fabrics to ensure that each piece is not only beautiful to touch but also lasts – no matter how often it is worn.
Who is the Bergano Greys woman?
She is understated and elegant. Quality and style are imperative, but she never needs to shout about what she is wearing.
Wholesale prices range from £14 for a brushed cotton tank top to £120 for a cashmere-silk blend cardigan.
