The collection

There is a British Colombia theme for the season. Colour is key, from tones of lilac and deep orchid, to bright fuscia. Knitwear, particularly in  merino wools, is strong for autumn 09. Key pieces include a belted Fair Isle tank top in a brown/red cashmere mix. A broad cross-section of trouser shapes are featured, from skinny through to more commercial flaired legs, with corduroy also making a come back. Brax has worked closely with fabrics, using the perma black dye technique on trousers, to ensure colour does not fade, and sustaining the handle of the garment. Denim has also been selling well, in a variety of washes.

Key pieces

  • Dark orchid corduroy, cotton trousers in a straight wide leg
  • Long Cashmino boyfriend cardigan in taupe with cashmere belt, leather and toggle fastening
  • Perma black cotton cargo trouser
  • Ribbed-knit purple belted cardigan with velvet edging

Brand Comment

Anne-Lydia Halewood, UK agent

“Knitwear has been selling well in all bright colours, such as fuchsia. Coats have also been doing well, there is a trend for coats given the current cold weather. Doing particularly well is our sporty duck down padded coat. We have also been offering great quality fabrics including our Kapok cotton trousers, which are lightweight and soft. Everybody has been buying cautiously. We’re hoping to benefit from our strong stock system, and we have a website where buyers can log on and buy more stock in season.”
