American brand Sigurdsson Morrisson has not failed to impress with a typically sophisticated and dynamic collection for autumn 09. No shoe on show was too risky at this brand as the direction was more classic than innovative, but directional detachable foot coverings featured on a red and white suede wedge.
Gold zip up shoe boots were a space age stand out style with sweet flats with bracelet charm style detail were commercial.

The trend story at high end brand Pura Lopez for autumn 09 is one of weighty constructions with chunky heel and platform sole units and retro detailing. Shoes are inspired but 1970s lasts and golf fringing, heeled penny loafers, crepe soles and panelling continued this theme. The palette had a clear autumnal focus with moss green a standout shade alongside grey, petrol blue and berry tones.

German comfort brand Scholl is not a brand buyers would expect to see within the trendy confines of the White Cubes area at GDS. The brand has partnered up with designer Diego Dolcini to launch a design led sub brand. In its third season, Scholl Studio retains the clog like Scholl sole unit but on a platform and uppers are tough boots with tartan textures and leather strapping.

Italian designer brand Etro has confidently embraced the theme of hiking for autumn 09, a trend which has been bubbling under the surface at the footwear shows this season. A heeled hiking inspired shoe with rubber sole met sophisticated printed lather stiletto boots and black velvet lattice evening sandals with leaf cut detail.

Although a very small range, with no more than ten styles on show at GDS, Key te is one to watch for autumn 09.
Black, camel and chocolate leathers are vintaged, but not distressed and applied to classic 1940s inspired lace up jazz shoes and low cut court shoes. Cowboy inspired boots and demi boots are also key here.

This French brand has been slowly growing its American business and is a regular at WSA in Las Vegas. For the first season the brand is on show at GDS in a bid to further penetrate the European market. The brands pricing architecture and margin mark up here is strong, and with a tight collection of footwear ranging from flat pumps with quilted faux skin finish to leather shoe boots with stingray style beading, Maloles shouldn’t have much trouble.
