Get ready for the latest trends and trade shows

Ian Wright

It’s time for another round of special issues dedicated to what’s hot for the season ahead, in this case spring 13.

This is the first of our seasonal specials since our shiny relaunch in March – first up is menswear, with 46 pages of spring 13’s most exciting new products and brands to have a look at. But that’s not all! The fashion planets have aligned in such a way as to also serve up our reports from Bread & Butter, Paris Men’s Fashion Week, Who’s Next Prêt-à-Porter and Paris Couture all in one issue, making for a fashion frenzy upon which to feast your eyes.

This really is a key time for our industry as trade shows and showrooms across the country and throughout Europe are in full swing for spring 13. These timings have been especially influenced by the Olympics plonking itself in the middle of the season and pushing shows either earlier or later around it.

For an industry that’s fast and furious at the best of times, this parade of shows is on a whole new level. So it’s testament to the cool-headedness of the buying fraternity that appointments will still be made and orders written (OK, so not at Bread & Butter, but you get the idea), so that shelves and rails will be full come March or so.

We’re here to make the whole process of visiting trade shows and showrooms as simple as possible for you – whether that’s pointing you in the direction of a new brand; flagging up a new trend (you’ll be hearing a lot about print and pattern for menswear); or giving you insight into what the big movers and shakers are looking at for the season. Next week we will tackle womenswear and then on to streetwear and young fashion – spring really has sprung at Drapers.
