Moda Footwear

The heritage trend filtered into mainstream men’s footwear on work boots, distressed leather and suede.

Levi’s has introduced a price point just below its premium range for the first time for autumn 11, on a range of boots in distressed leather geared towards younger, more trend-conscious customers. For the more traditional shopper, the collection moves away from trainers to focus on Chelsea boots and work boots. For autumn 11, Levi’s has also opened a new showroom in Farringdon, north London.

Prices: £35 to £65

CAT Footwear

To commemorate the 20th anniversary of its traditional Colorado work boot, CAT Footwear has produced a premium leather version (pictured) of the style for autumn 11. The Raw range is more fashion forward, with distressed leather and buckle details on some styles. CAT has also collaborated with clothing and accessories designer Johnny Diamandis and graphic designer Chuck Anderson as part of its Code range of vulcanised shoes with leather, nubuck or denim uppers.

Heritage brand Loake has introduced more trend-led styles for autumn 11. The pattern used on some of Loake’s classic uppers has been put onto a new, more emphatically contoured last, giving the collection a more contemporary feel.

Additionally, some of the brand’s recognised traditional brogue styles have been given a fresh twist by introducing a suede upper to the existing last.

More use has been made of distressed leather in Kickers’ collection of casual men’s shoes for autumn 11. The signature branding is still evident via the red and green tab detailing, but there is more leather in the collection. Kickers has also launched its first trainer, which is aimed at younger, 20-something men. The trainer will be adapted to incorporate different coloured piping and mesh fabrics in later ranges.

The new season collection from this Nicholas Deakins sub-brand includes work styles and boots with a wider last shape than last season’s, and vulcanised footwear with a hiking twist. The Ramsay (pictured) is a key look, and typifies the trend-led take on a hiking boot that dominates Deakins’ collection. Two lace options are available for the black version of the style to give two separate looks.
