Men’s footwear brands offered plenty of new ranges and style updates to keep buyers happy.

Geox

The main focus at Geox for autumn 12 is its waterproof technology Amphibiox, which was introduced last autumn for its casual styles.

This season, the technology features across the collection, including its more formal styles. The brand is hoping its Blade range (pictured), which did well last autumn, will continue to be a best-seller now Amphibiox has been incorporated.

Original Penguin

This is the first season that Original Penguin has used a ripple-effect white sole on three of its styles, including a desert boot that also features leather trim detail between the sole and upper.

It’s also introduced a long-wing brogue in both a shoe and a boot, incorporating a herringbone fabric on the upper to contrast with the leather.

Base London

Base London has relaunched its iconic Slacker loafer style, which was a best-seller for the brand in the mid 1990s. Termed Slacker 12, it has been reworked for autumn 12 with a lower-profile heel and a slightly slimmer last. The brand has also launched a sub-brand, Motoboot, which as the name suggests is inspired by motorcycle boots.

CAT footwear

CAT Footwear’s Legendary Raw, a trend-led range launched for autumn 11, continues to be a focus this season. Brogue detailing is used on some styles to create a smarter look. Another focal point for the brand is its Heritage range, which serves as a bridging point between Legendary Raw and the core iconic boots line.

Björn Borg

For its second season, Björn Borg’s iconic tennis-inspired heritage continues to come through on many of its trainer styles. New for the season is the Gilles sneaker, which uses the same fabric from the waistband of the brand’s underwear on the upper of the shoe. Also new for autumn is a range of leather boot styles, some of which are shearling lined.

Hush Puppies

Hush Puppies has launched a collaboration with Hemingway Designs for autumn 12 (see Brandwatch, p20), which is inspired by British club culture and the brand’s heritage. Hush Puppies continues to offer many of its men’s styles in its Worry Free suede. This fabric is designed to resist water and repel scuffs.
