Although kidswear brands couldn’t quite leave behind last autumn’s skiwear trend – almost every label had its own version of quilted or polyester-filled jackets – outerwear did move on from autumn 08, with an emphasis on more technical and lightweight fabrics for boys and long, chunky wool cardigans for girls. In boyswear, waterproof, reversible and thermal jackets were seen across streetwear labels, while premium brands opted for wool mixes and fur trims, which were also seen on their girlswear collections. Most brands had a chunky wool cardigan as outerwear option for girls and classic brands preferred the duffel coat, a style that brought the two sexes together.
