Paris Fashion Week: key collection catch-up

As the Parisian installment of the spring 16 womenswear shows nears its end, we round up the highlight shows from the past few days.

Alexander Wang’s final collection for French fashion house Balenciaga was a study in off-white and soft shapes, full of silks, soft lace and slouchy shapes. There were more frills and flounces (a trend spotted everywhere this season) worked for glamorous evening dressing at Balmain, where sexy shoulder-revealing shapes were another key story.

Celine balanced the hard with the soft, as sheer lacy dresses were contrasted with sculptural coats featuring sucked-in knitted waists. Hedi Slimane’s rock and roll girls took a punk princess turn at Saint Laurent - with mini lace dresses layered under oversized coats and simple, sexy slip dresses, all teamed with Glastonbury-ready wellington boots.

Expect to see the influence of Raf Simon’s cropped intarsia knits at Dior infiltrate the high street come spring, while the sportswear jackets teamed with boho maxi skirts at Chloé and the patchwork of plaids by Stella McCartney also promise to reappear.
