With thick scarves keeping most male buyers warm as they walked Pitti Uomo’s halls, next season’s neckwear of choice could well be the tie. Most commercial brands accessorised outfits with a tie or cravat, or even an Alber Elbaz-style dickie bow. But the tie was used with casualwear rather than formalwear and paired with sweatshirts and leather jackets. From checks, paisley and stripes to quilted and knitted styles, options were vast.
