Looking to Marc Jacobs’ autumn 10 collection for Louis Vuitton and cult TV series Mad Men, contemporary brands embraced a feminine 1950s and 1960s influence. Some stayed true to the era by offering shift dresses in pastels or brights with bows at the waist or cinched with thin belts. Others diluted the trend by toning down the volume on the full-skirt silhouettes. Stripes added a nautical element, while florals added to the girly look.
