Pure and simply the best of the show

As Kensington Olympia echoes with the sound of an order form being frantically scribbled for the last time for another season, it’s time to take stock of what was good at Pure.

Having put together some of the trend talks I got to see a lot of what was good from the show – the standard was strong with Part Two, Olivia Rubin, Almost Famous, Pamplemousse, Et Compagnie, Des Petits Hauts, Fever and Second Female being the stand out brands for me. Trends were more moves on rather than significant departures with sports, which got softened and toned-down, print, which went more tribal, graphic and abstract and brights, poppy block tones and washed neons, coming to the fore around the show.

But my personal highlight had to be interviewing the amazing Brix Smith Start who let the audience into her crazy world of her music career, setting up shop, Gok Wan, her superhero power of being able to pick the right pair of jeans for a woman just by sight and small dogs. All great stuff.
