Tribal effects

From Aztec and African prints to jungle and safari styles tribal influences were seen across the board, but featured most strongly amongst mainstream exhibitors. The most classic approach taken was to mix crude black African motifs onto brown and cream backgrounds. Elsewhere jungle and Hawaiian patterns played with bright eyecatching colours. Wooden Zulu effect beading and bone buttons added a point of difference at necklines and on bodices.
