Layering is key for Sandwich’s autumn 09 collection, with looks made from longer tunics and wider skirts, with parka inspired tops and blouses on top, and fine multi-colour knits for a finishing layer. The shapes in knitwear are designed with layering in mind.Giant collars, flared tunic shapes, and long and short cardigans are all presented. Silhouettes are soft, accentuated through layering on tops, and underlined by the soft lines of the harem pant. Sandwich has a new, enlarged range of outerwear with a variety of lengths and silhouettes, from the leather biker jacket to coats in wool, tweed and oversized checks. Ultra-feminine and easy to wear skirts and dresses combine with chunky voluminous cardigans and giant collars with textured knits. Chunky knits and longer cardigans layer over tunics, and sweaters are detailed with cable knits of fringes.

“The Sandwich collection takes inspiration from the nomadic lifestyle with layered looks and new shape combinations. The focus on cosy knits and a range of outerwear styles is perfect for the dropping temperatures. In the first delivery, a bit of British fun is seen in a bright mix and match of patterns including checks, prints, graphic circles and stripes. The second delivery brings a new colour trend into a layered look inspired by global nomads. Dark bottle green mixes with purple, while shades of grey keep things soft. The third delivery takes inspiration from the hues of the rough Icelandic outdoors. Rustic colours combine with ice blue and ice pink, which all come together in a colourful multi-colour leaf motif.”
