There was no getting away from last autumn’s shine trend this season, a favourite for all brands at Pitti Bimbo. Still seen on wet-look quilted jackets at designer brands and lacquer-like sheen ski jackets on streetwear, shine was most obvious in autumn 09 via sequins, which brands of all levels embraced, either all over, as seen at Roberto Cavalli, as trims or as embroidered logos and motifs. Designer brands also opted for satin, while many labels chose glazed silks and cottons. Lurex yarns on wovens and knitwear were used by premium brands and streetwear labels, which also featured some of last year’s PVC. This season, shine made its way into boyswear, albeit subtly via brand logos.
