Workwear styles, relaxed formalwear and heritage were sought-after trends at the London show.


Country-meets-city is the style inspiration behind Italian footwear and clothing brand Geox’s autumn 12 range. This season the brand has applied its hallmark breathing system to its men’s and women’s outerwear collection, with double-layered waterproof, breathable and windproof coats that incorporate hi-tech material Thermore.

Gibson London

Gibson London’s quintessential British gent look has a more relaxed feel for autumn 12. While the brand’s traditional formal suits still feature, they are combined with options that have a lighter construction. Three-button jackets become five-button when the storm flap is closed, and can be teamed with a moleskin waistcoat and a college bow tie.

This season sees the launch of young fashion brand Merc’s first premium range, the Merc W1 Collection, which incorporates higher-quality fabrication and detailed finishing. Merc W1 includes a paisley-print shirt, chunky-knit cardigans, and a brushed check padded shirt. Key looks in the mainline include a waxed cotton gilet with corduroy shoulder panelling.

Nicholas Deakins

Cashing in on the British heritage trend, Nicholas Deakins has teamed up with Harris Tweed on a line of T-shirts for autumn 12. The range includes crew neck and polo styles. Key pieces in the mainline include a heritage check jacket and a three-in-one parka-style jacket, which peels away to reveal new looks underneath.

Classic workwear, military dress and heritage country sportswear themes are evident in menswear brand Stone-Dri’s third collection. Standout pieces include a tweed blazer with heavy contrast-cotton shoulders and a multi-pocketed military-style jacket with green elbow and shoulder patches. Burnt orange, moss green and rich brown shades feature.

Urban Stone

After more than 20 years in business, Urban Stone has relaunched for autumn 12, showcasing a clean, utilitarian workwear-inspired aesthetic. Fabrics used include heavy waxed cottons, tweeds and twills in outerwear, vintage sweats and chambray for shirts. The collection includes a mustard parka, quilted wool-mix utility shirt, and a lambswool knit.
