The Brandery

A schizophreic mix of streetwear, lifestyle and premium labels was served up at the Barcelona trade fair.

American Vintage

American Vintage has pioneered the comfortable cotton basic since 2005 and for autumn 10 the French brand has stuck to its tried and tested formula. The stock on show at The Brandery was current season as American Vintage prides itself on its short order capacity. The colour palette is neutral and fabrication does not deviate from cotton, wool or linen. A delicate floral print is a first for the brand and nautical is the key theme.

Prices £43 to £86

Ambiguous Clothing

This Californian brand was the best up-and-coming brand out of a weak streetwear offering at The Brandery. Although it has some way to go in producing a cohesive collection, the range featured Polaroid print T-shirts which added a point of interest, as did a padded cotton skate shirt in plaid and an aubergine waffle granddad shirt.

55 DSL

Absent from Bread & Butter, it is only right to cover 55 DSL’s trade show outing this season. The brand served up a strong range of imaginative graphic print T-shirts ranging from cartoon style block prints to surreal line drawings. Crew neck sweats and quilted jackets also feature. The brands market positioning in Europe is different to that of the UK so prices may vary.

Prices £13 to £86

Martin Lamothe

The buyers at Topshop have already spied this up-and-coming designer and have stocked the brand in its Oxford Street store. Organza is the key fabric at play here and a seductive collection of see through organza trousers and blouses inject an element of the playful into an otherwise sober collection of resin coated, navy A line mini-skirts, heavy jersey DB pea coats and polka dot printed silk shirts. Rope is used as trimming detail.

Prices £51 to £147
