Sourcing trade show Fashion SVP hopes to capitalise on the resurgence in British manufacturing after more than doubling in size this year.
The show, which launched in 2011 with 17 exhibitors and three countries represented, returned to London Olympia last month with 36 exhibitors from 12 countries. Visitor numbers increased 82% and the show is expected to continue expanding, with 60% of space already reserved for the next edition on September 20 to 24, 2013.
Director Buzz Carter said: “It is a fledgling event and small events can grow very quickly.”
Clothing producers from Romania, Lithuania, Latvia, Spain, the UK, Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey, France, Portugal, Italy and Sweden exhibited this year, with Carter predicting that would rise to 15 nations next season.
A resurgence of UK manufacturing had given Fashion SVP the chance to establish itself as a key sourcing show, he said.
“One of the messages we got [from buyers and exhibitors] is that there is a real opportunity for manufacturing near to home,” said Carter. “We’ve been quite keen on banging the drum about Made in Britain.”
Fashion SVP is planning additional seminars covering topics such as supply chain transparency at the next show.
