UK attendance at streetwear trade show Bread & Butter fell by 15% for its spring 13 edition as footfall fell by almost 5%.
Organisers at Bread & Butter, which was held in Berlin from July 4 to 6, did not supply visitor figures for the show. It put the fall in attendance from some European countries down to the tough economic situation.
Bread & Butter president Karl-Heinz Müller said: “You have to see first of all that the economic situation in the world is not easy.” He added that attendance from Spain, Italy and Portugal was down due to the economic issues in those countries.
However Müller added the quality of visitors was “really high”. “We had more people from Germany and the healthy countries like Scandinavia, Switzerland and Austria. There was dramatically more from Scandinavia and from the overseas countries like China, India and USA. In a way I’m really happy.”
He said: “Bread & Butter is still the flagship for the industry for streetwear and urbanwear so I think we must be really careful not to talk it down.”
