High street preview: Whistles womenswear, autumn 18

Texture is key for autumn 18 womenswear at Whistles – the fuzzier, fluffier and cosier the better.

There are velvets, devoré and printed velour in slouchy suiting, louche kimono jackets and full-sleeved sweaters.

Mohair knits add fuzz, shearlings and fake teddy bear furs bring the fluff and leather adds a lustrous contrast.

A relaxed yet sophisticated slouchiness sums up the mood for next season, complementing the cosiness of the tactile fabrics. There are roomy carrot-leg jeans, droopy, oversized knitwear, exaggeratedly long scarves and a new two-piece suit in a roomy, wide-leg fit.

Longer lengths are in evidence throughout, from longline sweaters and the scaled-up silhouettes of outerwear, to hemlines that drop below the knee on skirts and shirt dresses.
