Q&A: Cem Cinar, designer at Rouge Margaux - one of White’s special guest designers.
What’s your background?
I studied at Esmod fashion school in Paris, and during my studies I interned at Rick Owens. After I graduated, I interned at Y/Project.
How has White been so far?
It’s been super-busy and there have been people at our stand constantly. Yesterday was very special, because we had a lot of people come to see the presentation. I met a lot of nice buyers, some existing clients from multi-brand stores and some that are new. I managed to get a couple of nice orders pencilled in.
Tell us about the autumn 18 collection.
One of my greatest inspirations is my background – I’m from Turkey originally, but I grew up in the Netherlands and have been living in Paris for 10 years now. All the different elements from those cultures are brought together. I really want to design a full wardrobe, clothes that are versatile enough so the woman wearing them can go to work, dinner and a party in the same outfit.
What are the key pieces?
Reworked classics. We have a red hoodie dress, in silk, which makes it slightly different to a regular hoodie. I’m not really into sweatshirts and T-shirts, and I really want to offer a full fabric collection rather than jersey. We also have a classic-cut jacket with eyelet fastenings and a sweatpant made from a high-quality French velvet.
Prices range from €100 (£88) for skirts and tops to €700 (£616) for outerwear
