With its monthly drops of fresh looks, this Australian label can help womenswear indies to lead the pack on trends.
Launching in the UK for the first time this November, fast-reacting short-order womenswear brand Finders Keepers is bringing its cool Australian style to our cold British shores. The Adelaide-based brand offers a newly designed collection every month, focusing on separates, playsuits and highly commercial party dresses. With more than 250 stockists in Australia and New Zealand, the brand debuts here for pre-spring 12 and will initially be stocked in all six Harvey Nichols stores and on Asos.
Each monthly collection can consist of up to 80 pieces. As well as new designs these can also include different colourways for popular styles, which range from casual daywear to party outfits. Standout pieces include mini dresses with sheer backs, lace panels and revealing cut-out detailing, leg-bearing mini skirts with maxi-length sheer panels, high-waisted resort shorts and cropped button-up shirt blouses.
With an eight to 10-week lead time, new and existing buyers can pick any number of items from each monthly collection and have them delivered into stores within eight weeks.
Polly Pritchett, UK sales manager for Finders Keepers at distributor Self Service, says this is a new way of selling for her. “Although monthly deliveries are not that rare, with brands such as LnA, Wildfox and Disney Couture all offering them, these sell in blocks of three months at a time. This means that most brands can’t react to trends as quickly,” she says.
It is this focus on trends and continually refreshing its collections that sets Finders Keepers apart. And more UK buyers are looking for brands that can bring newness to their stores on a more regular basis. Vikki Kavanagh, buyer at Harvey Nichols, says: “I’m excited about Finders Keepers. The product is accessible, sexy and on trend, and the short-lead monthly deliveries allow you to buy into must-have pieces you may be missing from core collections.”
The brand’s designer Julia Ritorto says: “Being affiliated with names like Harvey Nichols and Asos puts Finders Keepers on the global fashion radar. We want to continue to grow in the UK and hope to establish ourselves as a leading brand in our market.”
Pritchett says she hopes to push the brand into several new stockists, such as department store Liberty and well-respected indies Richmond Classics and Sarah Coggles. Wholesale prices range from £18 for a simple top to £20 for shorts, £30 for a dress and £60 for a full jumpsuit.
