Reiss forecasts steep growth in online business

Reiss expects online sales to make up 25% of its total sales within three years, according to the premium chain’s ecommerce director Dan Lumb.

Speaking during a multichannel and ecommerce panel discussion, Lumb said at present online, including mobile phone transactions, makes up about 15% of total sales.

The importance of multichannel continues to grow, said Lumb, with the same shoppers visiting bricks-and-mortar stores and the website.

He said: “We’ve done a bit of market research and 75% of all traffic we get to our website is from a five to 10 mile radius of where we have a store.”

Meanwhile, Stephen Selby, managing director of recruitment consultancy Success Appointments, said the

number of ecommerce jobs he is looking to fill has grown substantially: “It’s now at 18% to 20% but we predict it’s going to grow to 30% in the next year or so.”
