More clothing independents replaced by charity and coffee shops
Supply & Demand. If the public want more Coffee shops and Tattooists then so be it. The majority of consumers aren't really interested in independents clothing stores anymore and brands aren't really interested in independents either, which is sad. Speak to most brands - off the record of course - and they will say the Indies are 'a pain in the arse who give small orders and don't pay their bills on time'.
The trade and the public by and large are falling away from Indies, even though there are notable exceptions, the writing is very much on the wall.
