Careers: the need for super-skilled store managers


Shame there’s no comment from actual Store Managers in this article. Reality is quite different. Stores may be perceived to gain help with footfall from C&C online purchases. What really happens is resource is taken away from selling to customers (who have yet to make a purchase) to instead providing a service support (to those who’ve already bought) and logistics for the inefficiencies of online. No mention of returns? Or the impact on store targets. Ask any JLP partner who works in a store how their bonuses have grown since they went omnichannel. Now you need an acting degree? Theorists kill margins. Does anyone know how many (as a percentage of) store managers now work at their Head Offices?
