Christmas sales slumped after shoppers 'pull forward' purchases


Hardly surprising... the level of discounting seemed to reach epidemic proportions this year with even extremely well positioned brands discounting post Black Friday all the way through until Christmas... insanity, the industry is pressing the self destruct button. Well done to those brands that held their nerve, chose margin over discounting and respected their (usually more loyal) customers by not slapping them in the face for buying at full price earlier in the season.
