The Retail Trust has opened its first two pop-up stores in Enfield and Brighton last week as part of the charity’s Retail Ready People community project for 16-25 year olds.
Retail Ready People is a free 12-week skills development and volunteering programme which gives 16 – 25 year olds the chance to set up and run a high street shop in their local area.
The initiative is supported by Retail Trust, volunteering organisation vInspired and Dan Thompson of the Empty Shops Network.
The Brighton pop-up store, Make Away, launched on November 3 and gave customers the chance to customise their own T-shirts featuring designs from local Brighton artists. The store also sells artists’ prints and hand-made jewellery.
Cosy Cove, the Enfield pop-up store, opened on November 10, selling T-shirts, hoodies, homeware, natural skincare products and other handmade products made by local people.
The store will be open from 10am till 5pm from Tuesday to Sunday throughout November.
Retail Ready People is visiting 10 locations across England over the next two years, and the towns for round two will be announced shortly.
