Retail Trust's Search For A Star hits the road

Retail Trust’s Search For A Star initiative has kicked off with two live auditions at Xscape Milton Keynes and Brighton Marina.

The X Factor-style talent competition run by the retail charity aims to find emerging talent within the retail sector and is backed by major retailers including Marks & Spencer, House of Fraser, Asos and Harrods.

On Saturday, celebrity judges Antony Costa from Blue and ex-Atomic Kitten Liz McClarnon rated the shopfloor singers, dancers and comedians in Milton Keynes. Then on Sunday So Solid Crew’s Lisa Maffia and X Factor finalists Same Difference judged the competition at Brighton Marina.

Three auditions remain at Xscape Braehead on Saturday November 7, Xscape Castleford on Sunday November 8 and London’s O2 Centre, Finchley Road on Saturday November 14.

Following the final audition in London, judges will decide on the Top 50 acts. Videos of the 50 will then be uploaded to the www.retailtrustsearchforastar.com website from November 20. People will then be invited to vote for their favourites by text.

The four acts with the most text votes will perform in front of 1,100 major retailers, including Sir Philip Green, Sir Stuart Rose and Theo Paphitis, at the Retail Trust London Ball at Grosvenor House on January 25, 2010.
