Coast, Within House of Fraser, Old Christchurch Road

Wedding wear is here in spades at good prices but certain body shapes are under-served

Product 6½

Spring has certainly sprung at Coast, judging by the wedding guest attire on its rails. From draped bold and vivid satiny dresses to crushed-cotton aubergine casual belted frocks with contrast banding, there’s something for every dress shopper. The almost non-existent separates collection isn’t a surprise, although there are a couple of furry shrugs and a token nautical striped cardi - it seems that even occasionwear retailers need to offer the ubiquitous sailor trend.

Experience 7

This Coast concession is big enough to hold a wide range of the product you would expect to see in a standalone, from casual day dresses to statement frocks, plenty of colour and some intricate prints. The overwhelming style is the bandeau dress, so big-busted women with a wedding invite may need to look elsewhere.

Value 6

Coast keeps its prices steady, opting to work along the £100 to £200 scale and trying not to veer too much either side. So a turquoise floral-print silk-lined dress starts at £115, a silver and purple panelled satin figure-hugging mini is £150 and a nautical striped maxi is £160.

A striped cardi is £65, but white sailor trousers are the only thing to pair it with.
