Dune

Doing the business on boots for the 20-something fashion lover

Product 8

Dune presents a good take on the season’s trends translated into its own WAG-like handwriting and has some of the best boots at this price point in this survey. Boots make up 50% of the offer and include over-the-knee styles with tassels and a double-buckle detail and a ruched engineered style in distressed brown suede. There is a good array of party styles. Men get engineered boots and brogues.

Experience 7½

Dune invests heavily in its shopfits and this is no exception. While the unit is fairly small it is still spacious, easy to shop and well merchandised, largely by product type. There is a dominant wall of boots for instance. The staff were friendly and engaged shoppers in chit-chat while they tried on shoes. Dune also makes the best use of graphics in its windows and uses them to communicate clear trend messages.

Value 7

Dune has worked hard on adding hardware and special trims such as gold buckles and gold zips to give its range a real point of difference to the clothing operators and lower-priced specialists this autumn, which justifies its price points. It also has stiletto heels, giving it the edge on some rivals. Studded flats are £65, purple suede tassel-front T-bars are £95 and over-the-knee boots range from £160 to £175. Men’s engineered boots are £110 and quirky brogues £85.
