2012 in online fashion - December, Cyber Monday visits increase by 32%

Stefan Hull looks at the month of December 2012 and highlights the key changes that impacted the online fashion world.

  • Christmas comes early with Cyber Monday, the busiest online shopping day of the year, generating 112 million visits to UK transactional websites - an increase of 32% on 2011
  • The number of potential shoppers with tablets and other smart devices has skyrocketed with an estimated 5.87 million tablets now owned by UK households  
  • Analysis by IBM showed a 194.4% increase in the use of iPads to shop on Cyber Monday 2012, compared with last year, accounting for 10.6% of all online shopping
  • As reported in The Sun and Metro, the top ten most searched fashion brands in Google during 2012 included Stella McCartney, Karl Lagerfeld, Versace, Marks and Spencer and L.K. Bennett.
