2012 in online fashion - February, Google releases "Venice" update

  • 2.2bn UK consumers are using search engines, an increase of 174m visits year-on-year
  • Google releases a new monthly update on how they rank natural search results. The update, code named ‘Venice’, makes local search results more visible
  • Online fashion retailer Misguided release recorded sales of £14.7m for 2011 with sales up 240% from 2010
  • M&S debut it’s outlet website, allowing customers to buy clothing reduced by as much as 40% all year round
  • Topshop launches a fully transactional iPhone app to engage customers when they are in a store or on the go, making its full catalogue easily accessible on mobile
  • M&S becomes the latest brand to engage bloggers through Pinterest to reach new, influential audiences:
