2012 in online fashion - September, Google releases "Exact Match Domain" update

Stefan Hull looks at the month of September 2012 and highlights the key changes that impacted the online fashion world.

  • Google releases its ‘Exact Match Domain Update’ meaning brands need to work much harder than simply owning the keyword domain (e.g., thenameofyourpoduct.com) in order to rank higher in natural search
  • Brit Victoria Beckham stole the social show at New York Fashion Week - with 17,173 tweets about her collection and 53.7k new Twitter followers (about 48k more than Marc Jacobs)
  • London was voted the most stylish city in the world – beating the likes of New York, Paris and Milan, in the ninth annual ranking of 55 global cities by US-based analytics company Global Language Monitor
