Italian luxury fashion house Giorgio Armani is upping its social networking presence with the launch of Twitter-based discussions entitled #ArmaniTweetTalks.
The project, which launches on Friday, will consist of live discussions on various fashion topics. The talks will be a serious of question and answer sessions with guests from the fashion industry, with Armani acting as a host and steering the discussion.
The first will involve Vogue China’s editor in chief Angelica Cheung, Italian etailer Yoox’s founder and chief executive officer Federico Marchetti and blogger Susanna Lau. The ‘Tweet Talk’ will discuss the rise of China as an important fashion market.
The luxury market has been leading the way in digital advancements. Luxury British heritage brand Burberry showcased its autumn 12 collections on Twitter first before they hit the catwalk.
Earlier this month, Giorgio Armani posted an operating profit rise of 23% for last year driven by its continued growth in China. Revenue rose 14% to €1.8bn (£1.4bn) as operating profit rose to €281.8m (£226.0m).
