Asos appoints marketing director

Asos has appointed Clare Dobbie marketing director to help grow the etailer’s international arm.

Dobbie has worked with several international companies including Gap, French Connection and Nike. She set up Gap’s marketing team in Europe and worked on the launch of the US fashion giant’s Banana Republic chain in the UK.

Dobbie will report to chief executive Nick Robertson and joins in March. She replaces Hash Ladha who left in November.

Robertson said: “Having worked in creative agencies, covering big campaigns for brands including Nike, Sony Playstation, Sky and Boots and working within French Connection, Gap and Banana Republic, Clare brings with her a wealth of experience.”

Yesterday Asos said that sales grew 30% year-on-year in the five weeks to January 5. It confirmed it would open a US-specific site this year.
