eBay Outlet aims to up its fashion offer

Etail giant eBay is to bolster the number of fashion brands and retailers it houses on its Outlet fashion website to hit 600.

eBay, which provides a platform for about 100 retailers and brands including House of Fraser, Superdry and Jigsaw to sell stock at a discount, will add between 40 and 60 mid-market and premium brands and chains a year to reach its target.

eBay European general manager of fashion Miriam Lahage said: “We are expanding to make sure we have the brands [consumers] aspire to at discount prices. Fashion is the UK’s top-selling category, but there is enormous opportunity for growth.”

The UK eBay site attracts 17 million unique users each month, and fashion transaction volumes rose 30% in 2010.
