Edina Ronay champions UK clothing industry with new collection

British designer Edina Ronay is supporting the UK clothing industry with a new collection sourced and manufactured exclusively in Britain.

Red Label, which has launched for autumn 12, also aims to bring young consumers to the Edina Ronay brand and will only be sold online.

There are currently no plans to sell the collection wholesale and it will sit alongside the mainline collection.

Speaking to Drapers, Ronay said; “I am waving the flag for everything that is British made.”

The luxury heritage collection will focus on five main themes – knitwear, lace, batik, velvet and wovens – and Ronay said she been able to added tunic dresses, and shorter hemlines and sleeves. It is a full collection spanning knitwear, dresses, eveningwear and coasts. Prices for dresses range from £340 and £580.

Ronay added that she has been inspired to sell Red Label online by her daughter and her friends, who “buy everything online”.

“I really want to build my presence online as I believe it is the way forward.”
