Former Shop Direct boss to join Boohoo board

Boohoo is to appoint former Shop Direct boss Mark Newton-Jones to its board, marking the etailer’s second key hire this week as it gears up for an IPO.

Newton-Jones is believed to be taking up a non-executive director role at etailer Boohoo, Drapers sister title Retail Week revealed.

He has a long track record in clothing etail, having worked as chief executive of Very and Littlewoods parent Shop Direct for eight years until he departed last year. He has also managed Next’s Directory business.

Newton-Jones joins former Asos non-executive Peter Williams, who it was revealed earlier this week is set to become chairman of the fashion etailer when it lists.

Boohoo is expected to reveal its £500m IPO plans on Friday.
