Net-a-Porter appoints buying director for menswear site

Luxury etailer Net-a-Porter has appointed menswear buyer Toby Bateman to be buying director for its menswear site Mr Porter.

Bateman has had 15 years of experience in the menswear market, most recently as buying manager for menswear for Selfridges.

He will join Mr Porter this autumn and the site is due to go live in January next year.

He will report into Net-a-Porter founder and chairman Natalie Massenet. Massenet said: “From the outset, we knew that Toby was a perfect fit for this role. He has a very clear vision of how men shop and what they will expect from Mr Porter.”

Bateman said: “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be at the helm of this phenomenal new business as it launches.”

Katja Delaloye, who was previously at Swiss department store group Brunschwig & Cie and Swiss branded sportswear retailer Hofstetter Sports, will also be responsible for buying for the new site.
