November launch for Asos Marketplace

Etailer Asos has revealed it is planning a November launch for its Marketplace website, where independent retailers and individuals will be able to sell current stock, second-hand, unwanted clothes and their own designs.

Asos ecommerce director James Hart said in an interview at Marketplace.asos.com that individual sellers would be charged a flat fee of 10% of transactional value when an item was sold on the site, with no listing fees or pricing menus.

Independent retailers that apply for their own dedicated ‘boutique’ web page will be charged £50 per month and a selling fee of 15% per item.

Hart said: “There is a world of fashion out there that doesn’t fit the regular online retail model. Marketplace allows us to put that fashion in front of customers.”
He added that the future of the site would be determined by buyer and seller feedback.
