Better pricing continues for autumn 10 but product is predominantly stripy.
Stripy product takes up too much space at French Connection’s Cabot Circus store, with animal prints, outerwear and knitwear coming up short in the middle and back of the store. A leopard-print shift dress looks good and the outerwear is strong. Lace and jumpsuits also feature, but heavy-ruffled sleeves on blouses and beading on shoulders look too much like autumn 09.
Staff are helpful, showing Drapers to the biggest of the changing rooms and offering to help with sizing. The store is tidy and merchandised largely by product category, with the exception of the stripy product, which is merchandised at the front of the store. Good use is made of the large windows, which display an on-trend, leopard-print dress and lace top.
French Connection cements the statement it made on pricing last season by serving up a competitive autumn 10 offer. The navy blue, wool-mix coat is good value at £170, as is a belted cream coat with faux-fur collar at £220. Basic knitwear is about £55, while chunky-knit cardigans come in at £110, as does the leopard-print dress. Slim, wool trousers are £75 while jumpsuits are £95 - all cheaper than most stores in the contemporary category.
