French Connection

A small but perfectly formed destination store for dazzling party dresses and blinging daywear.

Product 9

For a small shop, French Connection can’t half pack the sequins in. This store focuses on partywear, with even simple knits and T-shirts adorned with silver details or splashed with sequined patterns. This is spot on for the French Connection customer however, and while this shop has nailed the  sparkly shift trend, there are also some nice prints, including pixelated and monochrome florals on dresses, and some sharp-shouldered Spoc-style dresses.

Experience 8

This is one of the smallest units visited by  Drapers in Glasgow, and product is well packed in. The store focuses on items with a wow factor, largely shunning basics, which can
be bought much cheaper from the rest of the high street. Once you get over the glare from the sequins, this is a pleasant and tidy shopping environment.

Value 6

An all-over sequin beaded dress is £260, and while a lot of attention has gone into it, it’s unlikely you’d spend this for a regular Saturday night out. However, printed day dresses are £60 to £90, and a studded and embroidered merino wool jumper is £75. A £95 grey shift with peplum detail and capped sleeves is too much – Next’s version is £30 cheaper.
