Hit or Miss: Clarks - 40/50

13-14 Petty Cury

PRODUCT 7/10
Clarks has a strong women’s offer, with fashion-forward cut-out and metallic brogues, neon and animal-print loafers and
white block-heel ankle-strap sandals. The men’s collection is equally fresh, with traditional brogues featuring brightly colouredlaces and stitching detail, and leather boot shoes.

MERCHANDISING 9/10
Clarks offers half sizes and wide fits across its women’s collections. It also has one of the widest size ranges available for men, starting at size six and going up to size 13.

VALUE 8/10
Clarks is similar in price to Topshop on certain styles - the white cut-out brogues come in at £55, compared with Topshop’s version at £58, for example. Court shoes with leather uppers are priced at £57 in Clarks, although they are not as stylish as Topshop’s £58 version. Men’s lace-up loafers are £80, £9 cheaper than Dune’s version.

SERVICE 9/10
The staff are friendly and helpful. The store is bright, spacious and a pleasure to walk around. On the women’s side of the store alone there are three seating areas with mirrors, meaning there is plenty of trying-on space. The stools have hand rails fitted across the back, which is a nice touch and takes older customers into consideration.

VISUAL MERCHANDISING 7/10
The window display showcases all the most fashion-forward products available for both men and women. In store, all the womens’ footwear campaign images that feature in Elle magazine are placed beside the corresponding products, illustrating the fashionability of the items.
