Hit or miss: Cos - 4/10

  • 222 Regent Street

Cos AW14

There are some nice pieces at Cos, including a fresh-looking neon yellow trend not spotted elsewhere. Its tailoring offer has a point of difference in directional items, with pinstripe culottes and mannish blazers. Fabric quality is strong, with a Crombie-style coat in a wool/cashmere blend is only £150. This price is in line with the likes of Zara but the product feels more premium. Merino knits are about £55, putting Cos at the lower end of the premium price range without compromising quality.

This was by far the worst store to browse. The floor is divided by large rails, making it difficult to navigate. Customers were having difficulty squeezing past each other, despite it not being busy. The wide open area around the till and at the back seems a waste of floor space. It isn’t clear where the changing rooms are either, as rails block the entrance, and Cos was the only premium store in which staff didn’t offer any help to shoppers.
