Hit or Miss: French Connection - 7/10

Westfield London, ground floor, unit 116

French Connection

Pros

French Connection is at the lower end of premium, but service here is easily as good as at more expensive stores. A sales assistant prepares a fitting room for me while I shop and is happy to go through that morning’s delivery to find my size in the stockroom. The 1970s trend is strongest, in pieces such as an embroidered boho-inspired dress, priced at £135, which accurately reflects the hand-finished design. This season’s offering feels more casual than usual, with lots of jersey pieces and jeans, but there is a range of embellished party dresses, fairly priced at around £150 each.

Cons

The collection feels very high summer, with few transitional styles available. Some materials are not as high quality as in other premium stores and a PU jacket feels out of place when you might expect real leather. It is also quite expensive at £100, when many young fashion retailers sell PU jackets for £60 or less.
