Hit or miss: H&M - 6/10

  • 261-271 Regent Street

Pros

The footwear offer in the Oxford Circus flagship dwarfs that of its other branches, with the women’s shoe offer taking up a chunk of the second floor. The area is spacious, with plenty of seating, and displays are inviting, featuring marble, glass and brass fixtures. The collection is decent value, with ankle boots starting at £25, slightly more expensive than New Look’s cheapest pair at £20. The price architecture is good, ranging from £7.99 for pumps (the same as New Look) to £80 for knee-high leather boots (cheaper than M&S’s version at £100). A standout piece is the suede cobalt blue stiletto-heeled ankle boot, which comes in at £70. The men’s collection features sandy boots at £35 and lace-up boots for £35 - £5 cheaper than a pair from Topman of the same quality. Customer service was brisk.

Cons

There are prices missing on some women’s styles. The men’s area is a bit of a disappointment - it is difficult to find and cramped - and there is only one seat and one mirror for shoppers to use.
