Hit or miss: Jaeger - 5/10

  • 200-206 Regent Street

Jaeger AW14

Jaeger AW14

Pros

The store is luxurious, its interior featuring plush furnishings, art deco designs on the walls and a glass lift. The feeling of luxury extends to theproduct, including largely classic pieces such as heavy wrap coats, silk blouses and colour-blocked knits. More directional designs, such as chunky sleeveless roll-necks, add interest. Staff were friendly; although I wasn’t directly approached, they were spotted advising other customers.

Cons

Prices are higher here than anywhere else. Several pieces, such as a wool and suede pencil skirt for £400, stand out as only coats are priced so highly in other premium stores. Most key pieces start at £150 - about £50 more than elsewhere. This makes sense for pieces using real leather and suede, but generally it’s not obvious why prices are so much higher, since designs lack the same point of difference as Karen Millen, for example. Jaeger’s fabric quality seems mostly on a par with others, which offer similar pieces for less money.
