Hit or miss: Mango - 6/10

  • 225-235 Oxford Street

Mango AW14

Pros

Mango offers some good value, trend-led pieces for autumn at relatively low prices, such as a £45 fringed fake leather jacket and a matching skirt at £35, both neatly finished and fully lined. The mannequins are good, with interesting styling choices, and are positioned next to corresponding rails comprising the full look. The 1970s trend is nicely interpreted into a mainstream officewear story, with pussy-bow blouses and roll-neck jumpers.

Cons

Some pricing seems random. Trousers for £20 are good value for decent quality but the plain T-shirts next to them are £18, which seems excessive compared with £10 options in Next or Dorothy Perkins. Some prices are jarring, such as a fake fur coat at £300 when the average ticket in store is less than £50. Bizarrely, the hangers in Mango are extremely heavy, which makes browsing uncomfortable.
