The offer is well targeted, filling the role of a younger Topshop. It features girlish pieces in floral prints, with a high presence of glitz, and a lot more partywear compared with its competitors, including floor-length embellished, sequined and beaded dresses. Most trends are accounted for, with the 1970s theme coming through via fake fur jackets, fake leather skirts and jacquard prints, as well as some pretty pastel fake fur-collared coats.
It has none of the interesting styling seen in Topshop and none of the sales assistants showed much interest in the customers. However, it is quality that really lets Miss Selfridge down, with paper-thin jacquard trousers for £40 that appear ready to fall apart, a flammable-looking polyester slip dress for £25 and a stiff fake leather top that feels plastic for £35. There are comparable styles in Forever 21 for around £10 to £15 cheaper.
